This tutorial is © tagcatz designs 2012. It may not be copied or reproduced in whole or in part without my written permission.

This tutorial assumes a basic working knowledge of PSP and AS.

No scraps are used for this tutorial. The fonts and vintage background images I used are in zip file if you wish to use the same ones. You could also use personal memory images if you like! HERE
The woman image is copyright to Ray Leaning and is available for purchase from PTE HERE

Open AS and minimize for now
Open your font/s and minimize to the task bar
In PSP, open all of your images and minimize for now
Open a new transparent image 600 x 250 and flood fill with #d7d7d7
Maximize the Ray Leaning image and copy the closeup layer and then close
Paste as new layer, reduce her in size to suit and move to the right side
Give her a drop shadow

You're going to repeat this next step four times - each time with a different background image
Click on your background layer to activate it
Open one of the vintage background images, copy and close
Paste as new layer and move to the left side so the border on the image disappears off the left side
Position as you like, and then duplicate the layer
You can either just move it over to the right or mirror - whatever suits the image best
I had to fiddle a bit!
Merge these two image layers together
Crop to size
Layers, properties, luminance legacy, 70%
Close the eye on this layer

Repeat that with the other three images - same process
Click on the whichever one is the top of the 4 image layers
With your pen tool, put a line across the canvas - pick dotted or dot-dash
Convert to raster, duplicate the layer, and move it far enough from the first one that you can get text between them
I gave both lines a small drop shadow also
For the Memories text, I used Neon Caps font - use any color you would normally see in a neon sign - pint, green, turquoise, yellow...
Duplicate this layer twice
On the bottom memories layer, add a drop shadow
On the top memories layer - adjust, brightness/contrast, 50, 50
Don't do anything with the middle one :)
Click on your top layer to activate it
Add your copyright info and license number for the Ray Leaning tube
Add your name or whatever text you might want - not too much or the scenes in the background won't be visible!
Layers, new raster layer
Select all
Modify, contract, 5 and invert selection
Flood fill with black
Effects, texture effects, blinds, width3, opacity 60, color white, light from left/top
Effects, texture effects, blinds, same settings, but check horizontal also
Deselect
Ok...now to animate!
Close the eye on the top memories word layer, and on the bottom three background images
Click on any active layer
Edit, copy special, copy merged (in some versions its just copy merged
Go to AS and right click to paste as new animation
Back to PSP
Open the eye on the middle memories word layer, and close the eye on the top memories word layer
(You want these two to alternate so you get the flashing neon effect)
Close the eye on the top background image and open the eye on the 2nd one
Click any active layer
Edit, copy special, copy merged
Go to AS and paste after current frame
Back to PSP
Close the eye on the middle memories word layer and open the eye on the top one
Close the eye on the 2nd background image layer, and open the eye on the 3rd one
Click any active layer
Edit, copy special, copy merged
Go to AS and paste after current frame
Back to PSP
Close the eye on the top memories word layer and open the eye on the middle one
Close the eye on the 3rd background image layer, and open the eye on the 4th one
Click any active layer
Edit, copy special, copy merged
Go to AS and paste after current frame
Edit, select all
Animation, frame properties and change the speed to 100 (or whatever suits you!)
Save as a gif file and you're done!
I didn't make an avatar with this one, but if you want one, set your crop tool to 150 x 150
Merge your layers together in PSP, and move the crop selection to where you want it and click once
Add your border and initials

Enjoy your memories!
